I want to do a mod for my tx..
not wanting to deal with the board... saw a yputube video where the guy cut the antenna wores running along the legs of the phantom and then soldered the new commector and attached new antennas. ?
Is this ok?
Will cutting the existing wires and the. Soldering each to connectors cause any issues?

You will be soldering extremely small wires and, to avoid affecting the SWR & obtaining maximum performance from the antennae, you have to be careful about maintaining a particular length for the cable to stay within the 5.8 Ghz wavelength.

That maybe true DB and it is so but as its Rx only it is not that critical.
What you mention are things to consider and take in account but isn't life threatening for the bird.
It could give lesser result as the original RX antenna when there is a short in the coax or bad soldering.
Watch out with to much flux usage.
