Hi everyone,

Sorry for yet another post on this topic but I've been reading everything here and still don't know what to do. I have had my P2 for a week... just installed the gimble and GoPro and can't wait to get a FPV setup. I don't really do soldering so a complete system ready to go sounds great but I also don't want to get something that I'll want to upgrade right away. On another post I found these links:

AND

Is this a good/recommended set up? Would I be better off with the DJI FPV Hub? Again, sorry, but the more I read the less sure I am on which way to go. Any thoughts are much appreciated!

I went with all Dji parts so I could use their Fpv hub and not have to solder anything a real plug and play

Bugsbunnyheli,

Did you just go fpv or ground station too? Also can you say where you purchased from, does seem to be a minefield of options, can't even see fpv hub on DJI website.

Cheers

Thanks for the replies everyone!

I did see that thread mysticalice but it seemed like a pretty extensive set up... wasn't sure if the kit that I posted would be close to as good but ready-made or not.

Bugsbunnyheli how are you liking your setup? Are you using goggles or a monitor?

Thanks again everyone :)

I'll chime in only because I was once in the same boat as you about 1 month ago.

I ended up ordering the ImmersionRC 600MW transmitter and the BlackPearl monitor w/the battery. I also installed the DJI mini iosd, I can't recommend the iosd enough, it's gives you soooo much data.

I flew around for a week or two with the stock antennas but eventually ordered and installed a 5 Turn IBcrazy helical and a set of IBcrazy cloverleaf (Madmushroom) antennas. The 5 Turn Helical and one of the cloverleaf antennas (5 lobe) went on the Blackpearl and the 3 lobe went on the ImmersionRC transmitter.

I understand you're hesitant about the whole soldering thing, so was I, but I can honestly tell you that soldering 2 tiny wires together is quite easy even for a noob (Me). Just make sure you put some heat shrink tubing on them after soldering them.

I get FANTASTIC range with my setup. Using the stock omni-directional antennas I was able to go about 2.2 miles away and the video isn't what cut out, it was the Phantom controller that gave up.

I ordered the antennas from http://www.getfpv.com

http://www.getfpv.com/5-8ghz-9-5dbic-helical.html

I ordered the Transmitter and Blackpearl from http://www.floridauav.com/

There are a lot of instructional videos on Youtube so let anyone know if you need help.

Hi Xanadu,

Great information, thanks for your post! One question for you... does that monitor attach to your transmitter? Thanks again.

you can get all kinds of different monitor mounts for the transmitter. OR... you can just mount it on top of a tripod.

I have the mount that the member is selling... It's really nice... however because it's made from a 3D printer and I'll be traveling alot... I want to break it down and the plastic will wear if I do that because it's a softer plastic.

I also have that carbon fiber mount. a little bulky and hard to tear down and build every time I fly.

I'd be happy to sell either for 10 bucks or whatever... i am not going to use either.

I just purchased this one that mounts to the neckstrap eyelet. so small and perfect. I'll let you know how it works but I bought it from Acesdeals.biz

Here is a very cheap FPV setup, you can get 1km+ range with this setup, its a nice start to FPV.
And if you use a directional antenna on the receiver you could go above 2km.

Boscam TS351: http://j.mp/1iwjZzR
Boscam TS353 400mw: http://j.mp/1gJ6t7s
Boscam receiver RC305 5.8Ghz: http://j.mp/1cRoJjy

RC305 + TS353 combo: http://j.mp/1iuhzQ6

Antennas (circular polarized)
cloverleaf antenna to rx: http://j.mp/1arIRFU
Cloverleaf antenna to tx: http://j.mp/1dG8kbW

7" LCD: http://j.mp/1d7kwsr
Boscam 7" RX-LCD5802 5.8GHz Diversity Receiver: http://j.mp/1lZuham

Just to show how well this setup works here is a video i found on youtube (4.6 km on minute 8:14), in the description is the setup used, and you can read RC305 and TS351, just like this setup:
