Apologies in advance for double post. Have new Phantom 2 Vision +. Altitude reads -273 ft before takeoff even after running the advanced calibration. I'm thinking have an equipment fault. Would appreciate thoughts.

I believe the altitude reading does not show above ground level, but absolute altitude. Do you live below sea level, e.g., Holland?

Altitude is set to the home point.
From the manual "Altitude - vertical distance from the home point"

No it is not absolute altitude (i.e. above MSL).

It [altitude] is based on pressure difference from the take off point/time.

I have the same problem with my vision plus. When i turn it on it will show different values in same location (between - 45 meeters to + 20 meeters). After turning on and off few times and several calibrations it can correct the values. It is brand new copter and I am thinking to send it back where I bought it. This is not a normal behavior. These parameters are important to understand real altitude and it is dangerous if they are not reliable!
