I have had my P4 for about a week, where I am flying from the ground drops away into an open valley. After take off I fly out over the valley the altitude does not adjust and when I drop down into the valley the altitude shows a negative reading so in layman's term the drone is drawing a line across and measure height from that line.
My query is when it come to a stop mid air it loses almost 2 meters in altitude, I can watch the altitude countdown before it stabilises, is this anything to worry about?

Altitude is always shown relative to your take off point, so the negative values are quite normal. The drop in altitude when you stop is a common problem for P4 owners....whether it's anything to worry about depends on what's underneath you when you stop! (It's also annoying from a filming point of view, as it shows up in your video and alters your framing).
