Got the P2V+ Friday, took her up for the first time yesterday and I am absolutely in love with this thing. I had concerns about transitioning from RC heli to quad, but now I realize this concern was laughable. Hope you guys enjoy, and please provide comments/criticism to help me become a better aerial videographer. I didn't dub music but the videos are relatively short. Feel free to play your own soundtrack...I recommend "Country Roads".

I loved the video of both bridges--and especially liked the one over the railroad tracks.... Would have been very dramatic if a train had been coming and then go up over the train from the bridge...

What settings did you use for the video?

Also, are you using an iPad mini or tablet? Does the iPhone App work OK on the iPad mini? Or do you have to set the preview on a different setting?

Thanks for the views of WV!

You are very brave to be flying over water, especially so soon. Those powerlines are too close for comfort in the B'ville Park. Overall the videos look great. The 3 axis gimbal is very stable.
I live in WV and have the Phantom 1. I have flown in some of the same places (Proctorville bridge and Barboursville Park. I am currently building a waterproof quad for flying over whitewater.

What is your concern with the powerlines? They don't look very close to me.
They look close to me. Remember then camera is super wide angle so things are really closer than they look in the video.
Electromagnetic interference from powerlines can confuse the compass or disrupt control of the Phantom and make it fly away. Ask me how I know...

Yeah, many folks believe that the EM interference has caused their control issues.

I've never experienced it when flying around powerlines like those in the OP's video. Even with a Phantom 1 ( PPM and single antenna) with the stock controller.

Here is my example. Notice the tower at the left edge of the view. This is connected to a small power generating station that has been shut down for years. They recently started it back up. I was unaware or I would not have flown there. I had problems getting the compass to calibrate. That should have been my first clue. I moved to a different spot on the river bank, calibrated and took off. The Phantom was difficult to control as soon as it took off. I managed to get it back away from the water and tried to land but it clipped a branch and took off like a rocket. I was lucky to recover it with minimal damage.

That seems more like a compass calibration issue than EMI.

Prior to that flight above I had also flown around powerlines and towers without any issues but I still did some research before shooting it.

This was interesting:

Maybe I'll try to fly a foot away from our microwave and/or find someone with an electric range since that is supposedly more EMI than the lines.

Thanks for the comments. I used 1080p 30fps for video and left all other settings on default values. I'm using an iPad 2 and the app works great, no problems.

With regard to the power lines, I thought I was far enough away but I'll keep them in mind in future. And as for the water, that was one of the big reasons why I got the P2V+. Maybe a little cavalier, but man do I love those shots!

Thanks to everyone for the feedback.
