This has been discussed a bit but I recently found a decent calculator online to make the math easy and figured I'd share the link.

b=Distance
Angle B is the angle from you to the bird. Surprising how depressed this angle is at say 400ft and 2500ft distant. Hopefully this helps someone have a better understanding of why they lose signal around trees, buildings, etc.
