Well that leaves you, not flying over it, and balloon launch. Just remember, the fail safe is to get home, if you lie about where home is it can run out 500m up.
The limit was imposed by our beloved overlords, and they bent over excepting it to get sales. So start learning how to build your own so you won't have software limits, becasue that is a nice looking mountain that will look good straight down from summit. And the arbitrary height is not being breached since ground would be less than that.
I guess global terrain mapping was to much hassle for 99% of the drones that won't need it. 1%'rs get the shaft again.
