500 Meter Distance Limit

I've been out of the loop for three months since that's how long it's taken DJI to cough up a replacement drone after my original one failed. For details on that, see here:

When I got the replacement I upgraded the firmware. Now I am showing a horizontal distance limit of 500 meters. Is that correct? I tried to video a bridge in Rio Vista a few days ago and couldn't even fly it across the river before I got the ol' "maximum distance reached" wazoo.

Enable maximum distance turned off in the app?

When the "Enable Maximum Distance" setting is enabled, you'll be restricted to the maximum distance you entered. When that setting is disabled, you'll be able to fly until the remote controller disconnects from the Phantom.
