Is the phantom 4 pro camera more prone to damage in a minor crash or even a hard landing vs. the camera on the older phantom 4 because of the mechanical shutter on the pro?

Probably not.
Any crash is a lucky dip and the results can be anywhere from no damage to serious damage, depending on what gets hit and how hard.
In drone photography the gimbal and camera has to be lightweight so it can be fragile.

I guess the extra moving part could be prone to sustaining damage from a hard hit. But I agree with Meta4. It probably wouldn't be damaged.

You might check on the P4 Pro forum and see if any of those owners have experienced shutter damage from hard landings or crashes.
