I'm looking at working on a project that takes aerial footage and converts it down for VR systems. I was wondering if anyone has any experience in shooting 360 video and if the Phantom 2 can even do it.

I was looking at this product but would need to figure out a way to mount it and potentially make sure the Phantom 2 can carry that load.

Any thoughts?

DJI states the P2 weighs 1kg and has a max take-off weight of 1.3kg. So 300 grams of payload capability. (I'm not sure how much payload improvement you'd gain with the new motors/ESCs and props. Somebody will.)

That holder full loaded weighs a bit below 570g. So if the published specs. are correct you're at about twice the payload capability.

I'd start looking else where. It won't be hard soon as a number of serious P2 competitors emerge. I believe Hobbico is going to introduce some serious P2 competition.

I'd say it's possible, but your Phantom would move pretty slow with the weight. Just don't fly on a windy day, as that would make a 360 degree shot look pretty bad
