On the same range I hit 2km last weekend, I decided to push out even further on the stock remote control and receiver. FPV provided by IRC 5.8Ghz 600mw vTx with a Fatshark Spironet antenna and Fatshark Attitude V2 goggles with the TrueRC Crosshair antenna. Great video out to 2500m then intermittent static to full static out to 3.4km. Failsafe/Return to home kicked on and off at 3.3-3.4km. Here is a youtube video of the run. http://youtu.be/LH89Waks3S8 Wishing for more range and smooth panning control, I upgraded to a Futaba 14SGH & R7008SB receiver yesterday with the first three runs pathetically short of the stock tx/rx range averaging 900m before hitting FS. I will test different rx antenna placement to see if I can improve the range. Not convinced the required 90° positioning is ideal as suggested by Futaba. While the 14SG range pales in comparison, the functionality and control of the quad while filming is incredible. Smooth pans and tilts on the gimbal.
