You can upgrade only the remote, but to the best of my knowledge, the remote firmware version and your ability to connect to the DJI app have no relation to each other. If its a P3S its connected by wifi, and the others by the usb cable. check which ever of those you have to make sure they...
IMHO, this is a much better plan
Neary Aerial - Drone and UAV Extended Warranty
cheaper, and it covers water damage as long as you recover the Phantom.
I would never use thread lock on the props. Tighten them like DJI says and they will never come loose. I check mine before every flight, and have not had a loose one yet.
If you hold the left stick all the way down while in flight, all that will happen is that the bird will decend as fast as the firmware allows. It will not shut the motors off till you are on the ground.
Depending on the wind I have decended mine from full speed down to as slow as possible...
with the P3A the max I have gotten is a little over 4000 feet @ 390 high. Between 200-300 I get to 2000 and lose everything. Usually start to lose signal at ~ 3000 feet when at max altitude BUT, I have a few obstructions in the way.of which most are 100-150 high.
and 10% off right now
Back by popular demand! 10% off!
IMO, its worth it. Its like any insurance. They bet you don't crash, to make their money. If you crash one time, its going to pay for itself. For what it costs for parts if you crash, I thought it was a good deal when I bought it.

main difference is the S screen is probably going to be brighter which should be good.
It would be interesting to see how the Phantom would fly with the new motors and the old main board/ESC's. In general terms, all the ESC's do is control the amount of volts going to the motors so in theory they had to make the new motors spin faster (more volts) to do the same speed, climb etc...
