Thanks Simon, as I don't plan on going beyond a few miles I'll give it a shot. My RC Hobby bill is starting to raise eyebrows with my wife so buying a new antenna will be risky. :D
How do you fit the antenna on the monitor?? It's a male SMA on the display for some reason and both of my SpiroNETs are male as well. Is there an adapter someone can link me? Or perhaps a local dealer that might have it? Like Radio Shack or a hardware store? Thanks.
Re: DJI Phantom 2 vs Vision+ for FPV flying? (+ Shopping Lis
Agreed. as a Vision owner, who just sold it, and bought a P2 with the gimbal it's the way to go. You're not tied to some funky 5.8ghz frequency, vs 2.4 and you can support any type of fpv you want.
Ah that's a good question. Which is the argument as to why DJI would use a proprietary battery. W/o opening it up that is.
Here's what I would do. I would remove all the extra stuff and test out flight time; see if it's any better. If it's significantly better then it might be a weight issue.
May I suggest doing some research on the the ways you'd like to "play" with your quad? I could have saved a few hundred bucks if someone would have ask me that. :) Here's how I think this hobby is divided:
- Photography
- FPV w/ goggles
- dunno but I have to own one!

Could the question be more of a general one? Perhaps the officer wasn't referring to the Phantom but quads in general? If so, then absolutely yes. Imagine drones patrolling the streets and feeding intel to a home base. IR would be the first thing I'd ask for if I was in R&D.
The concensus seems to be that the 3rd axis motor is bumping into battery; which is what is causing the motors to freak out. Another is that the anti-vibration balls are either too soft or too hard. Either way. I've done some non-scientific tests myself and think that the second culprit might...
OK here's a short video shot from my Phantom 2 with the new Zenmuse H3-3D gimbal. Note that there is a brief moment where the gimbal does start to jerk to the left but it seems to settle down. All-in-all I think the gimbal performed very will with no dialing in whatsoever...
Is it doing this? Keep in mind this is out of the box with no flashing or firmware upgrades.

Re: Dronexpert Gimbal vs Rotopixel Gimbal for Phantom 2 Visi
Good to see a healthy competition starting to form. Unfortunately give a few more months and the Chinese knock-offs will starting popping up.
