That's correct. I had the same issue. My understanding is you have to turn off video recording before you can take still photos.

As far as I can tell, Yitamotor is treating people fairly. No one is shipping batteries any earlier as best as I can tell.

I got the nano "Phantom" drone as well. It came with a letter apologizing that Yitamotor would not ship the battery until early November. Sending the toy drone still shoes more consideration than I have gotten on other occasions. It's nice they did something other than just apologize.

I planning to try hand launch/capture but I'm not sure how safe I will feel about it. (Gusty winds a lot in the mountains). I have used thin kevlar gloves to avoid line cuts when paragliding. I will do a test to see if those give protection from the props.

Electronics and motors generally seem to work in cold temps but batteries not so much. I place batteries in inside pockets (as close to my body as possible) when hiking to remote locations. I have never had issues as long as I do this. Another concern is condensation on camera lenses. For that...

The speed could be a problem (I guess you could slow down and let it catch up) but the altitude should not give the Mavic any issues. I specifically purchased the Mavic with use above 14,000 ft msl in mind.
