From a photography (professional or not) PoV both the ADV and the PRO are the same in terms of quality, no difference. They both use the Sony EXMOR 1/2.3” sensor.

Updates to firmware/hardware/software are a way of life now, either get with the times and update or fall behind. You strive for product improvements but complain when they are provided, update and move on. Simples.
