    Rand Paul Would Shotgun Drones

Just thought I would share this little nugget that was posted in a gun forum I frequent: http://chicago.suntimes.com/politics/7/ ... ones-house Since his shotgun is unlikely to reach military UAVs at 18,000 feet or so, I assume he is talking about sUAVs like ours.

New firmware update v3.10 now available

Re: New firmware update v3.8 now available I got the email from DJI yesterday, and I have the same policy; I won't even consider an update before I read what's going on in this forum. I think more and more people are taking that position with each successive update. Eventually, it may get to...

    Gimbal breaking by design? addendum

Safety is another reason for "made to break" parts. Volvo engine mounts are notoriously subject to long-term wear. That's because they are designed to break off in a head-on collision and drive the engine down under the car, instead of directly back into you.

    7th Channel Functionality??

It's not really an "update" that is needed. Absolute tilts will work if you were warned in time not to update the gimbal software. I did not, and I have absolute tilt on an old controller with a rear-mounted lever ... and which works with the Vision app. The problem is that, once you update...

    Lever Centering

The way you describe it, it sounds like you upgraded the gimbal software to "relative tilt." That means the lever must be centered to stop the tilt motion. If you tilt the camera, it will continue to move all the way up or all the way down unless you return the lever to dead center. If you...

    NTSB Rules Against Pirker

The 400-feet maximum altitude is a guideline. Flight within line-of-sight is one of several characteristics listed in a 2012 federal statute which must be present to exempt our birds from FAA regulation. See the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012, Pub.L. 112-95, Sec. 336(c)(2).

    Lever Centering

The original rear-mounted lever takes the camera from horizontal at one end of the lever range to vertical at the other end of the lever range. The speed of the tilt is controlled by how fast you move the lever in either direction. That is "absolute tilt." The new software creates "relative...

    NTSB Rules Against Pirker

The provision cited does not require membership; it just requires operation within those standards. I was going to pay for a membership a few months ago, and I forgot to do so. However, as long as you comply with the AMA National Model Aircraft Safety Code, you have fulfilled the requirements...

How to get gimbal stick working on X1 with phone connected?

Re: How to get gimbal stick working on X1 with phone connect Not true. I learned this by experimentation. In "Basic Version," without the zenmuse gimbal upgrade, the rear-mounted tilt lever will provide absolute tilt until the Vision app is activated. In "Upgrade Version," the rear-mounted...

    NTSB Rules Against Pirker

Before everyone goes into a total panic ... Read the decision of the NTSB. Recognized that it applies to an act which occurred on October 17, 2011. Notice that all the law applied by the NTSB was law in effect at that time. Now recall that shortly thereafter, Congress passed the FAA...

    Lever Centering

If you have absolute tilt, you don't need this mod. However, it is my understanding that, if you upgraded the gimbal software, you no longer have absolute tilt. I was lucky and saw the warning before I could upgrade.

Complain to DJI about lack of channel 7 support and choices

Re: Complain to DJI about lack of channel 7 support and choi Fine. Provide us with an alternative Vision app which allows us to disable the in-app tilt control and enables the already-functional absolute tilt lever on the transmitter. Charge a few bucks for it; I'll pay it. But don't make me...

Tilt Control IS Enabled Ch. 7 for 3.08 SOLVED -really!

Re: Tilt Control OK with 1.0.0.6 Zen update! I'm not a software designer, but it seems to me that all that's really necessary is to add an option to disable the tilt control within the Vision app, leaving the camera tilt to be adjusted by the absolute tilt control which is already operational...

Tilt Control IS Enabled Ch. 7 for 3.08 SOLVED -really!

Yeah, mine works fine, too ... until I turn on the Vision app. I had not installed a tilt lever until last night, but I was of the impression that channel 7 had always worked until one turned on the Vision app. If so, the gain on that aspect was zero.

Tilt Control IS Enabled Ch. 7 for 3.08 SOLVED -really!

I hadn't flown my bird in about two weeks, nor had I checked into the forums. The nice thing about that is that, by the time I checked in, most of the bugs had been worked out of Update Mania®. My bird and batteries have updated successfully, and X1 has been calibrated; everything seems to...
