    Fly away

Seems like you got lucky in that it made it all the way to the ground... realize the images in the track log are from summer (edit: well, no snow), but a canopy like that (especially if it's evergreen) will snag a bird pretty easily. Interested to hear what you find in the onboard logs.

    Fly away

As was suggested, it would be really good to get the logs off the drone - especially before you send anything to DJI. Those logs have whatever info was generated after your iPad lost the signal. Sounds like you lost contact and it may just show slow steady depletion of the batteries until it...

    cracked batteries on P4

Just curious - did you drill the ends of the cracks to try to prevent them from propagating?

    Calling all camera gurus..

Two comments (not from a guru, just an amateur who likes to dabble)... - I loved your edit of the picture... nicely done, cannot speak to some of the technical aspects others have mentioned. To me, it is a beautiful picture. The composition is great, and the color and brightness corrections...

    Phantom 4 battery sale

The posts you replied to are over a year old... and I see you sold your batteries anyway, so just noting for anyone else coming to look.

    Drone crashed after using RTH

Remember that the elevation is relative to your take-off elevation, not relative to the terrain. If you fly anywhere that has hills, the 30m RTH elevation can put you into the middle of a decent-sized tree pretty easily.

175 feet straight down slamming onto a frozen lake!

Yes, I knew that wasn't the cause of our incident, nor of the OP's... was actually hoping to avoid any discussion of or references to that series of unfortunate events (lol). Photobucket has made a mess of that thread, but that's a completely different issue. I was just curious how the flight...

175 feet straight down slamming onto a frozen lake!

Good info... I know the data is captured at a pretty high frequency so any loss of contact with the battery terminals might display as a voltage drop for one or two data points prior to total loss of power. I assume there is some capacitance in the power circuitry that would allow it to write...

175 feet straight down slamming onto a frozen lake!

I've read many of your posts, and I definitely agree with your assertion. Your list above seems pretty complete, but just curious how you've diagnosed improperly latched batteries from the flight records... had a crash experience with my son flying, and wondered whether it might have been due...

external hard drive for P4P ??

I know this is off-topic, but I had to register with the Inspire forum just to see the pictures in that thread... crazy stuff. I looked but couldn't find any posts of the crash video or recovery. Doesn't look like the guy has been online in a while.

Hello all and a quick question

I don't know the person who made the comments, but my impression of Aussies in general is that they are a fabulous, easy-going bunch. I've visited Melbourne and have known several Aussies at work. Maybe he just had a bad day...

Crashed My Drone. What do I do?

Suggest you post up some pics for others to comment on. I'm not qualified to answer... just know that water damage can compound whatever has already happened.

Crashed My Drone. What do I do?

Make sure it's dry before powering it up... I know he said that first, but then saying "before starting that" sounds like it should come "before" everything he said first. If the battery gets wet, it might short itself or the electronics on the bird. Suggest letting it dry for a day just to be...

travelling to new zealand from uk

Just speculating, but I suspect this recurring question about needing to recalibrate comes from the fact that most navigational maps are oriented to true north, not magnetic north, and "compass deviation" varies as you move about the earth. My automobile has an electronic compass, and the...
