What about if the drone hits an estuary water which has some salty component, much less than ocean water. I guess rinsing with fresh or distilled water and dry like described above.
I would have not tried to update firmware if your drone was working. With the Phantom 3 I think the advice has been “if it isn’t broken, then don’t fix it.” I recall reading about problems about updating the firmware.
I was impatient about getting a GPS fix before flying as I was going to do a very short over the water flight. As I launched the DJI Phantom 3 it took off out of my control. I thought I dumped it. I remembered to look at the iPhone and saw that it was over the water somewhere. Then I recalled...
If you are using drones for work especially Federal contracts and in Federal lands you will be able to use any drone or drone with parts from China. Some states are adopting the No China rule as well. I heard this today during a federal drone meeting.
There is a huge after market community right here on this app. -message board. In my opinion if you like what you have then keep it. You avoid installing the new mandated tracking chip in the drone for at least another year.
Try checking your props and blades for chips and looseness. Are you getting a GPS fix? If not it will fly strangely as you describe. Also calibrate compass.
I agree. In the past there have been many stories of people updating only to have the update cause problems. With older systems like the DJI 3’s (like mine) I would be very careful for updating. There is an old saying, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” is appropriate here. For new systems like...
I agree don’t quit. Do what was suggested above. If that doesn’t work. I suggest shutting everything down. Remove battery. Get a new micro card format it as if you just bought the drone. Get the latest update for the unit and go from there. Even delete your old app on the phone or iPad and...
The good news is that you are learning to work with the drone under the hood. I wouldn’t invest much money into it. Salt water is a killer of electronics.
I love mine. Very sturdy and forgiving. Make sure he and you watch the videos for beginners and especially the ones about the top reasons for crashing and/or losing.
I can’t answer your specific questions, but I often search on YouTube and have learned a great deal from the people who post tutorials. This forum (PhantomPilots) is excellent too, so keep asking as we all learn from the answers. There are many errors we all make when we first started, one of...
If they put chips in the drones for ID, people will just disconnect them. Sounds like the olde illegal tv dish thing. Education and responsibility is the answer in a free society. Not control.
