    107 Certification Question

Just to add, the FAA has an online function to apply for clearance inside some restricted zones at the FAA Waiver Request section of the web site. Operators with a 333 exemption can still contact the airport manager and ATC, but not under §107. The real problem is the 90 day processing period...

DJI Phantom 4 Pro & 2 huge military planes close fly by

KingDad1985, - You're not the only one who likes to fly "in the middle of nowhere", as the video demonstrated. Whether the military guys were "hot dogging" or not, YOU are required to avoid THEM, which is what you did. Even if you're flying hobby it's still a good idea to become familiar air...

Flying in class B airspace as a recreational pilot

Also keep in mind that the radius from an airport is designated in Nautical miles. If you are 5 Statute miles from the airport centerpoint you are still inside. Nautical miles = 1.15 Statute miles. As has been said above, just stay away from the Class B zone. More about airspace here...

How to take the Initial aeronautical knowledge test?

Actually, since the chart legend is in the front of the book, it's almost like the answers are there. For example [-30] is one.

How to take the Initial aeronautical knowledge test?

No, that is the actual book of charts that is used on the exam. When taking the test don't forget that the Chart legend is right there in the front of the book, making the charts section more like an open-book test. Students of the Drone Professor's course (advertised on this forum) are making...

Lume Cube too heavy-motors are working too hard

I think you should be using white strobes since red and blue are usually associated with fixed wing aircraft indicating left and right in forward motion. On a heli, directional lights are meaningless and could serve to confuse. If you intend the lights for decoration rather than a safety...

How Far Can You See Your Phantom in Daylight

That's a good design, then. I think they should be set so that visibility is as close to 360 as possible, don't you? Twilight operation under Part 107.29 requires 3 mile visibility of the lights, and we can reasonably assume that is in all directions.

    107 air space waiver

Yes, I think you did get the wrong information. It's confusing that the same web page is used for the waiver requests and for airspace permission. Waiver of rules, understandably, can reasonably take 90 days to evaluate the safety aspects, but that is not the same for airspace permission. In...

How Far Can You See Your Phantom in Daylight

Is it possible to mount one in each direction? The way the video shows, there's no visibility behind the lights. Also, what about from above?

Took The Part 107 Test Today

The FAA has suggested that the exam requires 10 to 20 hours of study in preparation. Some of the training courses can help to reduce that time. This test is designed to not be a "memorize the answers" exam. Unfortunately, the many of the listed "reference materials" in the FAA official Test...

    Night flying

....except when "fully illuminated", as in stadium lights fully illuminating the drone (AMA rules), which negates the night camera settings. The other exception, if operating under Part 107, is during the first half hour before sunrise or the first half hour after local sunset, if your drone is...

First crash: Pilot error and what next?

Regular practice at an AMA club field can be very beneficial. Most members are actually really nice to us "drone" guys. Best to get in some practice hours before heading out into "traffic".
