From what I can tell, it is 160g heavier and the battery is only 2X the original size. Other than that they are sporting "heavy lift props." I am lucky to get 8 minutes on my original so how do they accomplish the 3X flight times - can the props really be that good? If so, can I put them on...
One thing I like about that link is the built-in camera with the easy access camera select. I, too, prefer the screen because I like to switch back and forth between FPV and line-of-sight flying. That camera may be just the ticket. Don't care for the built-in diversity, though - I prefer to...
Actually, If the compass N doesn't match the direction the GPS thinks is north, you will get this toilet bowl effect. I would have thought that compass cal took care of this, but if not, then the procedure recommended should help. I once accidentally mounted my compass 180 degrees off (put it...
Another nice thing about that model is it shows the total pack volts first, whereas, the OP model steps through each of the cells before displaying the total. I ended up removing the buzzers from mine since I just used it on the bench to check packs and it chirps very loud and sharp every time...
There is one more thing you should know. On the stock battery, the lone, odd-colored (white) wire is actually the positive and connects to the 3S pin on the monitor. The grey wire opposite is the negative that aligns with the bottom edge.
Nice vid. Well done. A couple questions..
1) What gimbal do you use ?
2) Did you have to do any post-processing to remove shake, jello, etc?
Next time you find yourself fighting wind to get home, switch to ATTI - your top speed doubles and should have no problem moving upwind in a 20 knot...
Re: OK balancing props is got to be the most ******** thing
Which props are you balancing? If you are trying to balance the stock props (with the key on the shaft), you won't have good luck with typical balancing fixtures since they expect a round hole. I've gotten reasonable results by...
Maybe after one or two highly publicized lawsuits, the cerebrally challenged pilots will start thinking twice about attempting such flights. Reckless endangerment doesn't require any laws to be broken.
I started down this path, too. However, like all my projects, it has escalated. In the end, I decided to keep my Phantom intact and build something that can carry more and stay in the air longer. So now I am building an octo with a PX4 flight controller 8-) . Also open source but with some...
I have read on other forums that the phantom GPS unit uses a different communication protocol and cannot be swapped with other DJI products. However, I think it would be nice and would probably swap mine, too. ...once another guinea pig tries it and shows it works :) . I've been wanting to...
