You can go back and forth, but you have to close out the DJI GO app completely before you launch AirNest - and visa versa. Just closing the app isn't going to work - it can't be running in the background.

Honestly, the best way to understand what it is and how it works is to go to their website. It seems overwhelming but a few minutes of reading will give you an understanding, and the training videos will walk you through it.
