That sounds great. I'm still getting to know Yorkshire really, I work in Leeds so maybe later in the summer I'll have to bring my drone to work and go for an evening escapade to the Dales. I'm thinking of popping over to the Peak District when I get a free weekend as it's not far from where I live.
Mmhm, I think you guys are probably right. For the propeller to go what seemed like straight up, the chances are it came loose before the drone flipped. I'll endeavour to tighten my props a bit further than I have been in future I think.
I spin them on until the motor turns, as recommended in every DJI video I've ever seen. Should I be gripping the motor and tightening the props further do you recon?
Thanks for the reply. I have read it's best to be firm with the throttle on take off and I generally make sure I am. The tickle I described was more of a little push to make sure the motors are responsive. I didn't give it anywhere near enough power to lift or move the drone.
I have to admit...
Heh thanks. Yea I think it was good that I went back out and got it flying again. It does make me a little nervous though, not knowing what caused it. I'm tempted to start doing hand held take-offs so that I can feel if it's wanting to flip by that's not really ideal.
Yesterday I took my drone out with my usual giddy excitement and placed it on my newly-laid patio. Spun those props on like a whimsical child, thinking of all the wondrous joy I would shortly be having as my drone ascended into the heavens. I calibrated my compass, waited for the friendly wink...
Hi Green Phantom,
It certainly is a lovely part of the country. I moved away from London only a few months ago so I'm really happy about the sudden abundance of open, flyable space.
Yea any of those could be possible and, as you suggest, I think I will probably just fix it in post. It's only to a small degree so shouldn't have to crop much more than I would when I reduce the lens distortion.
I see what you mean. I must admit I don't know much about Phantom batteries. I've heard about storing them at 25% but no details on what length of time is considered "stored". I tend to leave my battery uncharged after a flight and then just plan ahead to ensure I charge it just before I fly it...
Who said anything about the GoPro's wifi? I always assumed that it's the "go home" feature is what causes the Phantom to fly home when it reaches a low battery %. My suggestion is to force the battery to run down without giving it the option to land. That way he can test if it's his battery...
Why not try turning off your "go home" feature and just hover at a safe altitude to see if your battery does actually fail? (this is probably a really janky so possibly not worth the risk)
Hi Epic,
That's awesome to see you getting your first Phantom. I'm a P2 beginner too! I got mine about two months ago and have been loving it. My recommendation would be to be sure you pay attention to the LED flashes on the drone. I'm colourblind so have to really concentrate when working out...
That's interesting, I must admit I have had very little experience with Gopros before this one so I've no idea what the specific differences are. The one I had certainly had the + on the shell but I bought it from a 3rd party seller on Amazon and it came as just the device; no battery, back lid...
Hi Waylander,
I live just North of Rotherham and have been flying mostly in a little park next to where I live. I'm planning on taking a flight over or around the lake along Manvers Way, assuming I can find out if I'm allowed to fly there.
How about you?
