Yes Slothead even if it's not 100% stable and level, the motors will shut off after holding the stick down for 3-5 seconds. I did the exact same thing as you on my first hand catch. Now that's all I do.
I started doing this highly technical hand-catching maneuver a few weeks ago, and must say that's it's far easier than the alternative. Plus, 9/10 times I attract a crowd, and it makes you look like a boss.
I had the freezing video issue start all of a sudden a few weeks ago. No idea if it'll work for any of you, but I downgraded the phone app from 1.5 to 1.39 and I've been 99% better since.

I had a dude yell at me that I was spying for Obama today. No joke, I just laughed at him. He then said maybe I was working for Gorbachev. I laughed harder and ignored him.
Then I shot him in the face and hid his body thirteen feet northwest of an old oak tree with a low hanging branch. A...
There was a period about a week ago where I couldn't fly anywhere without getting swarmed. Every single time I hit about 100 ft, my Phantom was completely enveloped in a massive swarm of big honey bees. I did some research and ended up on two main theories. One is that the Phantom obviously...
I live in a pretty residential area in the middle of the city and I can only get 1k at most before I lose signal. There are just so many trees and wireless and radio devices in my area that I'm probably even lucky to get what I do. What does your flight area look like? Are there a lot of houses...
That's funny because I finally sold my Parrot today, been trying to for quite awhile. The AR Drone is a decent machine, especially for it's time, but the PV2+ is a Cadillac compared to it in every way possible.
I vote no, they're more trouble than what they're worth. If you're like me, you'll treat your $1000+ quad a little differently and with more TLC than you would your Syma X1 starter. Besides, messing up the guard screws with the originals is a quick way to ruin a motor. I know. :/
It may not be applicable to you, but if you're low on quad experience I'd recommend getting a Syma X1 or better yet a Hubsan X4 and get very familiar. Other than that, I'd start slow, get a feel for the aircraft and gain confidence. Build on the confidence everyday until you're an arial...
I've used an S3, S5 and LG g2, with no obvious differences between them. I'd think since you're only connecting to the repeater that is inches away, 'newer' wifi wouldn't really matter. Pick one with a nice bright screen!
