I have a Phantom 2 (non vision) and it goes in RTH mode after the first battery warning. After the second battery warning it goes in Auto Land mode. So it does work with the non vision Phantom!
(In assistant software: battery settings, select go-home)
For take off push the stick up to the north indeed.
For shutting down you can use CSC or left stick all the way down for 3 secs. I always use the left stick for shutting down, not the CSC 2 stick method. If you perform the CSC incorrect, there is a chance of tipping your Phantom over.
As above, 1080/30/medium. And latest firmware. With the latest firmware the gimbal will react on stick input (yaw) This helps getting rid of landing gear in the picture.
