I took 5 audio samples from various spots around the falls and then manipulated the sound levels to simulate them being recorded by the P3P- so it is audio from Nooksack Falls but not actually recorded by the drone.
Nooksack Falls is an 88-ft waterfall in northern Washington with a viewpoint that doesn't afford a very good view of the entire waterfall. In order to get a better view, one must climb terrain which has proved fatal to 11 or so people. So why not use a drone (in this case a Phantom 3 Pro) to get...
Thanks! I made with video with 4 flights/batteries. It certainly wasn't windy at ground level but you can see some wind effects on the treetops. All but one of the panning shots were using the POI function. The lone manual pan started at 3:28. I have noticed subtle shakes before and have always...
Actually, it is a former airport. I got in contact with the owners of a farm in the lower Skagit Valley of western Washington state because their property used to be a private airport and was actually modelled by ORBX as an payware airport add-on to Microsoft Flight Simulator X/Lockheed Martin...
I wonder if they'll publish how many drones they actually detect. It would be nice to have something to either corroborate or contradict sighting reports.
Thanks. I've found that when in the mountains, propeller incursions are real challenge to deal with and still get scenery, much of (or most of) which is higher than the drone can even fly. My next Cascades drone expedition will have an even higher starting point :) but I still will have to watch...
If your doing video, be careful with PL filters. Their effect changes as you change the viewing angle relative to the sun so panning around with a polarizer attached is pretty much impossible to properly fix the color. Actually, the camera has such a wide angle you can see the polarization...
Thanks! I used manual settings with ISO at 100 and for shutter speed I used both 1/50 and 1/60 in conjunction with a Taco ND16 filter. The highlights were still blown out somewhat on the snow of Mt Baker though. I probably could've gotten away using a ND32 filter.
Are you saying that ALL airports should be NFZs?
One thing that is not constant however is the engineering controls built in to the drones. As the large drone (I'm excluding tiny toy drones like the Hubsan X4) population increases, the proportion that are newer models with altitude limits and...
I have never seen a risk assessment methodology which only cares about worst-case (that will result in utter paralysis every time and all forms of flight, manned and unmanned, would be unthinkable). Even the most basic forms of risk assessment include both probability and severity of identified...
