Signal Interference Between iPhone and Phantom Controls

I have my GoPro Silver 4 hanging from my Phantom. I have an app on my iPhone that allows me to monitor and operate the gopro. Will the signal from the iPhone interfere with the signal from the controller? I have nightmares about this thing flying off into the sunset. I do the turn in circles...

    Your drone is an "aircraft"

49 USC 40102(a)(6) sates that “aircraft” means any contrivance invented, used, or designed to navigate, or fly in, the air. Being that it was an "aircraft" the NTSB can investigate. They don't always HAVE to investigate. They can help other agencies investigate. In this particular case the FAA...

    Don't Fly to Istanbul!

It's these kinds of idiots that end up making life miserable for the rest of us. Someone here said "at least he wasn't in the flight pattern." Maybe. But major airports like that have VFR flight paths that are used by air planes to fly over the airport and through the airspace surrounding the...

    Your drone is an "aircraft"

I was reading my new issue of AOPA magazine. I read the article, under the heading "Pilot Counsel," titled "Unmanned aircraft systems" by John Yodice who provides legal counsel to AOPA. In the article he reviews the progress of the case of the guy who flew his drone around the campus of the...

    Antenna Trackers

Thanks. After replying, then thinking about it some more, I realized that the Antenna tracker would not be mounted to the drone, but there at the feet of the operator. Oh well. It seems like a good device if you are going to fly so far out it would be hard to see with the naked eye.

    Flight Testing

I know, right? But the limits are set while I learn to fly it. The tracker is going to be a constant weight, so learn to fly the machine you will fly. Also, after calibrating the compass with the added electronics you don't want to remove said electronics and then fly without recalibrating the...

    Flight Testing

I am going out today to fly my drone a little beyond the 30' or so I have flown it in my back yard. The problem with my yard are the obstacles. I am going to the country and flying it in a large open field. I have added a GPS tracker and I will have my GoPro attached so I can flw it with all the...

    Mini Led Light

It is small but still an electronics change in the machine, so re-calibrate your compass.

    Antenna Trackers

What will you be using the tracker for? I looked at it and I don't get the use. It is awfully heavy (500g). That's going to cut down on flight time. You can get a GPS tracker that weighs about 58g if the purpose is to help you locate a runaway. Or is the antenna tracker to help you spot your...

    ATC

No. You don't even have to report yourself to ATC if you are flying an airplane. Just stay out of the airport's airspace. You can get aviation charts overlay for google earth. There you can see all the little airport and the major airport airspaces. Stay away from them. Keep your machine at or...

With all the negative posts, how about some positive ones!

Re: With all the negative posts, how about some positive on Nice videos and pictures. Made me want to run outside and fly my machine. Zinnware, what camera did you use? And where was all of that? What software do you use to edit?

Brainstorming ideas about Amazon Air (drone delivery)

' Now that it is put in that light I see the humor. Indeed, shopping has come a long way and so will delivery. I guess what I intended to convey is that there is a limit to expectation. At least at my age. I ordered a GPS tracker and can't believe it isn't here yet even though it has been two...

    Home point question...again

The reason that you should recalibrate after traveling "far away" is because of the natural variation in relation to magnetic north. Near me to the West (about 25 miles) the variation is 3 degrees East. That is, the compass now has a 3 degree error. So if you cross that line you would want to...
