Well there is a certain skill to photography of course and I'm sure you'll do well if you look at the right tutorials, point your camera at the right things at the right times and so on. In bright sunlight, causing a lot of reflections, you might find a polarising filter helps. It'll only work...

VLC is pretty bad at playing back raw 4k footage so I wouldn't expect it to be great on 2.7k either. Try MPC-HC from mpc-hc.org I was sceptical myself until I tried it, as I always believed if VLC couldn't play it, nothing would.
