Phantom 2 suddenly drops from the sky

Hi all, I'm the pilot in question on this one. I hadn't known about VRS before, however, after reading up on it last night i'm pretty sure I've experienced this a few times. It was good learn what can be done to get out of that state. The below are descriptions from my perspective of what...

DJI Customer Support in US Really Improving

Hi all, As everyone knows we struggled (as least in the US) with support for the Phantom line for quite a while. I'm really happy to say that this seems to be turning around. I'm on my 2nd P2V+ with manufacturing related image processing/camera issues that required a product replacement...

    Strange pixels on night shoot

That's definitely not stuff on the sensor or lens. As a pro photographer of 25 years, I know what dirty lenses and sensors look like. They are never in focus even with a macro lens because the depth of field doesn't include the front of the lens back to the sensor. Lens and sensor spots are...

    Let's see some videos!

HI Dirty Bird, I originally posted a new thread about this issue however found your comments here and thought I'd ask for more info/thoughts. Here's the original thread: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=20677 The videos and pictures I posted there show so much "white spot noise" the video is useless...

Help - White speckles on nighttime P2V+ Video

I read Dirty Bird's thread. I've been a pro photographer since th 80s and have worked with all kinds of cameras with CCD and CMOS sensors, (including custom cooled rigs) since they first hit the market. I've never seen noise like this. Assuming heat the issue, one thing doesn't make sense. The...

Help - White speckles on nighttime P2V+ Video

Hi all, Here's a strange one. I flew my P2V+ on the 4th of July hoping to catch some views of fireworks. (I made sure to be in a safe area and didn't fly over or through them.) Instead of interesting fireworks video I got video of small white blocky speckles overlaying the night video in...

P2V+, Data Link and Ground Station - WORKS!!!!!

I did read about this in the other thread I mentioned before. Essentially we are missing a POI function. The program-P2V+-to-changing-degrees trick does apparently work to a certain extent, but does stay camera locked on the POI as it changes headings and camera pointing degrees. It still holds...

P2V+, Data Link and Ground Station - WORKS!!!!!

Ok, just so I wasn't asking something that was documented, I read the 7 page User Guide. Which was almost useless in terms of defining the capabilities. However, we do have this forum of pilots way beyond my experience. In a quote from another thread in the GS forum IrishSights says...

P2V+, Data Link and Ground Station - WORKS!!!!!

Hi wattsn, Great job on this. Questions - With the GS mod can the camera be controlled tilt/yaw while flying a mission leg? or does the mission have to be paused to get tilt/yaw? I'm assuming tilt for sure, unsure about yaw. - With the GS mod can the craft be flown sideways point to point...

Using internet while connected to wifi extender

Ok, now it got interesting. I'm not a Mac user. I don't know why, another story:-) Anyway, so in theory, if I had a lightweight android device with 3g/4g, connected it to the camera, strapped it to my P2V+ then connect to it via my Samsung Win8.1 tablet I would have something like a ground...

Using internet while connected to wifi extender

I wonder what kind of FPV lag time you'd get from the other side of the country... hahaha. That also makes me wonder if you'd get too much lag just bouncing around between towers and satellites. really interesting idea though.

Using internet while connected to wifi extender

That's the part I missed. You might run into conflicting IP addresses, and flight time will be shortened. Definitely want to hear if this works.

Using internet while connected to wifi extender

That is an interesting idea. Essentially you'd be doing something similar to what the "over the web" home security apps do with connecting to their cameras from a device at home, then broadcasting it. The thought that pops into my head is that the iphone would lose connectivity to the camera...

Using internet while connected to wifi extender

I have IpConfig installed and just tried your idea. I can get the Host Address, which appears to be an IP and the Host Name, which appears to be the IP for a DNS server.

Using internet while connected to wifi extender

I ran into the same issue with Android 4.4. I tried to search on apps that might circumvent this "feature", but they all required root and they were all meant essentially for ganging internet connections for faster downloads. These apps didn't mention maintaining multiple connections outside...
