P4P, can we squeeze 14 stops of dynamic range from a raw file?

Hi Tomas, nice work here, but I expect the P4 Pro to be around 12-13 stops according to what DXOmark measured for several Sony RX10/100 cameras that contain a similar sensor (P4 Pro has Sony IMX183 Sensor). On the other hand it´s nowhere defined which values to count for measurement and where to...

    New firmware cripples two features?!

No, defenitely not! I first saw this feature with my P4 Pro and it could be set at increments of 1, so found 17-18 as the perfect setting for me. Later I found that it became also available with the P3 Pro I updated for sale. Focus assist also was possible in video mode in REC pause. In REC it...

    New firmware cripples two features?!

Looks that at least two features were crippled in the most recent firmware: - "Gimbal Pitch Smoothness" can only be set in steps of 5 now, totally useless since I find 15 has nearly no effect and 20 is to strong. Always had 17-18 in use. - "Manual Focus Assist" is only available in photo mode...

Is anyone actually happy with their P4P??

I still have some mixed feelings: - I've had 3 GPS losses in 34 flights where I had none with my P3 Pro in 278 flights. The P4 Pro was even blown away a bit by the wind in ATTI. Without sight it would have gone. - The camera has better quality when there's no motion, no question. But in motion...

Panning / rotating problem with my P4 Pro

Hi Dronefriend, THANK YOU!!! That was the problem! No idea why this function was enabled. Roland.

Panning / rotating problem with my P4 Pro

...ah ok, I´ll check that - thanks!!

Panning / rotating problem with my P4 Pro

Maybe I'll try this, but I don't think this is the problem since the speed of panning decreases over time while holding the stick constant. Releasing the stick let's the copter rotate for some degrees, but than it stops and stays still.

Panning / rotating problem with my P4 Pro

Hello all, I encountered another problem with my P4P when rotating/panning the copter while it is in the air. Holding the left stick a little to the left or the right lets the copter rotate slowly, but doing this in one position (without flying in one direction) lets the rotation become slower...

    Any EDIUS 8 users here???

Hi there, after some ghosting problems with my Phantom 4 Pro I found out that the H.264 .mp4 UHD videofiles seem to be somewhat incompatible with my prefered editing software EDIUS 8 Workgroup (latest update and version before). Playing the files instantly from the timeline shows some dropouts...

    4K 60FPS?

From the testcharts it´s a clear yes from me in regards of oversampling. Since there are only half as much red and blue pixels in a bayer pattern sensor than green pixels resolution is usally worse from red and blue testcharts. Resolution here is clearly advanced in contrast to native resolving...

    4K 60FPS?

It's the same problem as with the A9 equipped GoPro action cams - also only 60Mbps and I-Frame flicker. But, as with my Sony PXW-X70 with 4K FW2.0 that was also limited to only 60Mbps (now we have 100), this camera showes a very good resolution (similar 1" oversampling sensor as P4P) and no...

    4K 60FPS?

Marcel, you are right, I was also wondering about this. This effect was never that visible with my former P3 Pro or my a6500. In contrast the P4P has significant more effective resolution than the P3P (due to the sensor oversampling), so even more information to store. This may be the reason...

    4K 60FPS?

The P4 Pro does offer an advantage over the P3 Pro and P4. Videos look much "deeper" with more 3D effect, the codec is greatly improved since the I-Frame flicker of the P3/P4 goes to nearly invisible, at least it is greatly reduced when not graded! Noise is reduced and resolution, at least when...

    4K 60FPS?

Maybe it´s still of some interest for you - I did some tests with ISO charts and the result is as assumed. 4K/50&60p uses lineskipping/pixelbinning as FHD/120p does, so the vertical resolution is about half the expected in UHD/60p. I think it´s a little better than half the resolution since we...
