In case this information is of use to anyone else customizing their Phantom 2
I've figured out how the LEDs that are under each arm (driven by the ESC board) are controlled
Each ESC has 4 wires going to it. Three are orange and 1 is Brown
The layout is Orange, Brown, Orange, Orange (I'm...
If you have a compatible small Canon camera, you can load this firmware http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK
On some models it allows external control input via USB, and I think it can do things like taking a photo once a second, but you'd need to checkout the website.
I loaded it onto an old Canon...
Thanks Ian,
That would make sense. There are 4 wires going to each ESC, so 1 could be the motor control PWM and the other 3 could be individual LED control PWM's
I took a look at the signals using my scope and one of them appeared to be 400Hz which is probably the motor speed control and...
The fundamental problem with getting the pictures onto your phone that you can't use Wifi link with the P2 (Non vision), because the P2 uses the same radio frequencies for its radio control system.
i.e the P2 uses 2.4Ghz radio control and wifi uses the 2.4Ghz band as well.
Where as the P2V...
Hi,
I'm making some major changes to my Phantom, and would like to know how the Naza controls the LEDS on the ESCs
As far as I can tell the signals going to the ESC's appear to be normal PWM at around 400Hz but there is also a signal at 900Hz.
Does anyone know if the 900Hz is some sort if PWM...
I recall someone posting exactly the same problem a few weeks ago. He reported that it had started to work the next day.
Perhaps he and you just had lousy satellite coverage at the time.
Are you testing the Phantom away from buildings that can obscure a good view the sky in all directions ...
That's not totally correct.
The flashing greens you saw while the phantom was on the ground is defined in the manual as "Record forward direction".
You need to see 2 sets of green flashes before you take off, as its only the 2nd set that are for the "Home position".
If you won't do this, you...
Re: How do you customize transmitter (controller) configurat
Looking at your diagram, I fly using mode 4
I had to swap the joystick connectors inside the Dji RC Tx
I also had to reverse some of the channels in the phantom assistant software.
Btw. I'm now using a Futaba Tx rather than the...
Re: How do you customize transmitter (controller) configurat
You can normally get it to work, but you need to run the assistant software for the phantom and in the joystick calibration, and you have to press the Reverse buttons for the channels that are back to front.
You will also need to...
OK
Doesn't sound like it is the joystick calibration.
I have a feeling that what you are experiencing is the normal operation of the Phantom's flight control system (the Naza)
I've not tried flying as fast as possible and then releasing the sticks, I normally fly quite gently to get better...
It would be technically possible to control the GoPro remotely, but not that easy
See

and

Also, the standard DJI radio control doesn't have any spare channels to send the commands to the camera, you'd also need to...
Hi Bob
Try updating the firmware in the transmitter as well as the Phantom, and if you've done that, try doing it all again
Make sure you calibrate the transmitter joysticks etc after you update the firmware in the transmitter
Also recalibrate the joysticks in the Phantom Assistant software
Hi Bob
Umm. not sure whats going on.
Is the phantom brand new ? (it should be bound when you get it, and should not need to be re-bound)
Has your transmitter unit ever bound to the phantom?
Its possible the transmitter is faulty. Mine had an intermittant fault, I'm still trying to get DJI...
