I’m trying to fix a phantom here in Brazil, and need to find a roll motor, and a roll sensor board, and flex cable, all for the p2v+. I've been searching for US dealers online for these items in stock with no luck. I'm about to start emailing some of the companies, but decided to check here...
I have an older style battery (round pins) that came with a p2 vision that was given to me. In the assistant software, it shows the battery loader as 1.3.0.0 and firmware as 1.6.0.0. It doesn't give me the option to update, but it seems as though others have updated their batteries to 1.5 loader...
Thanks for the input... it's helping with my decision. How fast does the phantom lose contact with the controller if it doesn't have perfect line of sight? For example, will a thin tree canopy affect my signal if I'm still within 100 feet of the bird? I'm dealing mostly with mostly palm trees...
I'm really nervous about taking on a job that requires me to film inside and above a fairly dense forest. GPS lock is unreliable, so I'll have to fly in ATTI mode, which could get hairy in close quarters with any wind. My real concern comes with the RTH settings. What's the safest approach to...
Thanks for the reply Geert! Just one more dumb question so I understand fully. Will I get the extended transmitter and wifi/video range that I normally get with vision plus setup? ie FCC mode - 800 meteres?
Sorry it this has been covered before... I know I can extend range with mods or aftermarket extenders, but:
I have access to 2 phantoms for work purposes, one a P2V+ and the other is a P2V (non-plus). The plus has a more powerful Tx at 120mA vs the older 80mA model, with a more powerful wifi...
Re: Satellites dropped to crap after camera/gimbal replaceme
Thanks cityzen for the reply. I didn't know about the bottom tin foil mod, I'm assuming it's in the original tin foil mod thread. The only thing I can't do immediately will be the toroidal chokes since I'm in the middle of nowhere...
After 2 months and 2 failed repair attempts, I ended up with a new camera/gimbal unit. Everything looked AOK after installing and recalibrating. Took it to my usual flying field and waited for home lock, which I never got. It wouldn't pick up more than 5 satellites, where before I'd get 8 or 10...
When I started flying I'd always keep the pointing away from me so the phantom movement would correspond with the right control stick. Now that I'm confident with the bird, I mostly fly in ATTI mode with nose pointing in the direction of travel, unless I'm shooting video. In my opinion you...
Man... I'm thinking about asking Fastsmiles for commission for sales off of this thread! Totally kidding fastsmiles, keep up the good work. Did you see the pic of how they sent my camera back? Looks like it'll be another month before I get to try out your design. Totally bummed...
Speaking of jiggling, I got my cam/gimbal back yesterday. This is what I saw when I opened the box. Yes, this expensive, fragile piece was rattling around in a big empty box without even the gimbal protector on (it's laying next to it). Couldn't get it to work after reattaching, went straight...
No luck on the last attempt... it's going back. I gave them a choice. Fix it, replace it, or talk to my attorney. They charged a small fortune for the repair. I want to share this image publicly just to gauge the reaction of anyone who feels like commenting. Is this negligence, or am I...
