I had excellent service from DJI when I had to have my Inspire 1 returned for repair under warranty . Maybe the service varies from country to country .

I updated straight from the DJI GO4 app connected directly to the Phantom without any issues whatsoever. Only took around 15 minutes. No cards involved. I don't see why anyone is choosing any other way !?

I think you are focusing too heavily on high expectation of the camera itself. The UAV tech is not solely about the camera but other factors to make them safer. Obstacle avoidance is something DJI are focusing heavily on of which we might see primarily on the P5 rather than an increased camera...
