It gets even crazier... The freeze now only happens in 1440P/48 mode. I suspect the 1080/60 freeze from this morning to be rather coincidence. 1440P/24 and 30 works just fine.

I can confirm this issue. The GoPro records without problems on every other setting than 1440 when connected to the FVP USB cable. As soon as I switch to 1440 is stops recording after 10 to 25 seconds. So.. having the GoPro being able to record stand alone at 1440... what would be the issue...
