OK, I don't know about you guys but when I'm flying and point the camera straight down from a fairly high altitude it's hard to tell where exactly I would land if I went straight down (hope this explanation makes sense)

My experience is similar to yours. My guess is that there is a ton of interference from power lines and all the other electronic stuff that is in suburban areas.
My flight time was increased greatly when I flew over the water with zero interference.
I'm on a LG4 and have the PhantomPilots app installed and have a few issues that are are confusing me.

Root your tablet (go to XDA Developers to find out how) and install a slimmed down rom that has all the unnecessary crap taken out. I personally root all my android devices and uninstall a bunch of stuff.
