I own both and actually find I use my P4 more. While they are the same size corner to corner, the Mavic has a smaller profile. I lose LOS at around 600 feet with my Mavic, I can see my P4 out to about 1400 feet.
The Mavic tends to put more warnings on the display than my P4. I get "cold...
Depends on how cold it is outside... Below 19F my fingers get too cold. But I basically do what others have said, I keep the battery "warm". Don't fly as far away as I would in warmer temps and "return home" well before I normally do in warmer climates...
Otherwise I've had no issues flying...
And it has. When the P4 came out it was ~1400 bucks. You can buy it now for $1k. So that's almost a 1/3 drop in price... Also its a business. Let's face it, DJI doesn't have any serious competition so they don't really need to drop their price. Their only competition is themselves...
"Cost to Produce" MUST include more than just the cost of the material and construction/assembly. Engineering costs money. Developing software/firmware to do what it does costs money. It may not be tangible in the sense the remote and the actual bird are, but Engineering is a substantial...
I really like Litchi. I wouldn't say its necessary but boy it really does help make my videos much nicer. Much more fluid and smooth. Reduces the amount of post production editing greatly for me. I'm sure there are people out there that are really good and can manually keep their drone at a...
I've flown my P4 in 26 degree temps, coldest so far since I bought my P4. I have flown my previous Phantoms, a P3S and P3A as low as 16F.. I plan to fly my P4 in cold temps as long as I can handle it.
I've also flown in light snow with no issues...
A couple things I do when it it is cold...
I'd buy a P4P in black. While I prefer the black I'm not going to swap out my "standard" P4 for one...
Don't you have to disassemble your P4 to plasti-dip it?
I wish I had the option. Black would be great. Sometimes I have a hard time seeing my white one when there are clouds behind it, even if its just several hundred feet away. My Typhoon H is a Dark Grey and that is easier to see against the sky and clouds...
Heat isn't too much of an issue...
I recently flew my P4 in 29F degree temps with no issues. I've flown my P3A in temps as low as 19F with no issues. I keep my batteries in a insulated bag until I'm ready to use them. I always use full battery packs and start bringing it home sooner than in warmer months...
Pretty much what everyone is saying. I'd opt for the P4P as well. I've got a Inspire 1 v2 and it is fun to fly as its fast and its more stable than my P4. But shorter flight time, doesn't work very well with litchi makes it something that only really stands out if you need dual operators. I...
I use two different backpacks, the DJI Multifunctional backpack and the LowePro BP 450 AW. Both of these hold the P4 in place very well. I think the key is to keep the P4 in place so its not bouncing around and other items in the pack aren't bouncing or rubbing on it I also use the gimbal...
