I always hand catch. Just sure that you are upwind, just in case it suddenly switches to ATTI.

I, personally, always had catch. Just make sure it is downwind of you and stable in the hover. When it is in position and before you reach for it, do a full turn with the yaw to make sure it turns on it's axis and does not do the washing machine effect, which is usually caused by the compass...

I didn't actually do it to fly at night - it's so that I can see it easily against the sky in the daytime - far more obvious than the re/gn leds when it is at 400ft

If it does interfere, it will probably change to atti, so you need to be aware that you might suddenly be flying it like a model heli [although a lot easier. It's a good idea to be downwind of your goal, so at least it will drift back towards you if it happens. I had it happen with large steel...

I have a set of bright white leds on the bottom of the camera protector which are turned on & off using the front leds and a simple light detector [those are covered up with dark gaffa tape so that ambient light doesn't turn on the white leds], and they don't shine into the camera lens. The C...

That does sound as though the card isn't handling the data rate.

I must admit that I have never attempted to open the throttle with unloaded motors - i just do a start & let the motors do their startup pulses, and run at the set speed for a few seconds to listen to the bearings. I assume that the 2 speed pulses are to allow the escs to see if there is any...

The motors are speed controlled, and are pefectly happy to run unloaded. It's also a good way to listen for any noisy bearings.

i have 2 x p3a, and they update via the app.

I have a pair,but for me, the non-adjustable pupil distance means that they don't suit me. Wearing glasses isn't such a problem, but it does limit the field of view. Also, like the model before, the controls are really clumsy. What i really need is a new pair of eyes.
