I had the same thing happened to me in Fiji. No wind drafts. I highly suspect it was caused from a DJI Go update that was forced on my ipad. Before this it flew fine.

I accidentally left my update switch on for the DJI Go app on my iPad mini, there was no turning back from that point. I had one short successful flight after that. On the next flight the drone disconnected contact from the controller. It never RTH and I have no idea where it is. I had folks...

I see what you mean. The Phantom was completely stock, so no add ons. There are no large predatory birds in Fiji nor did a see any flying around. I guess this one will remain a mystery.

Hi, The gimble guard was off. I actually adjusted the gimble in flight to get better pictures of the beach. My theory is there was a catastrophic failture, perhaps the power system where everybody by shut down at once. Could the VPS system indicator be an indicator something going wrong...

I’ll do that when I get back to the states. Maybe it will help someone. Either way I’m done with DJI and probably droning. These things are too expensive to replace when they fail.

Good to know. Although it flew OK last weekend I would hate for it to start restricting flight on vacation where I have no way to really work on the issue.

I just reviewed the v1.6 manual. Although it does say you don't need to calibrate the compass, later in the manual it does say to calibrate the compass if the aircraft was moved a significant distance. In this case it was moved half way around the world, but interestingly it seemed to fly...
