    DISABLE "Smart go home."

More likely the drone calculated it was greater than 65' from the homepoint when it was actually not. There is a lot of assumption that GPS accuracy is always great, especially if tracking a lot of satellites, but this is not always the case. GPS is notoriously inaccurate under trees and +/- 65...

    Phantom recovered from the sea

What a great picture! Very kind of you to be making an effort to find the owner, I hope it works out. Those SD cards are normally pretty tough; they are often advertised as waterproof, shockproof, and have a wide temperature tolerance... all within reason of course, depending on how long its...

What are some real use ranges people are getting within P3?

2.5 miles out (13,270 feet) for me with my P3A is my "best" so far, though battery was fine and signal strength not bad and I think I could have easily pushed 3 miles. Only signal issues really were once I turned it back, which is pretty common. I am all stock everything, no mods. Here is that...

    Critical Issue Discovered

My thoughts reading his post were the same. Sounds like he thought just because the app crashed it should RTH which of course is not the case. He later mentioned he did hit the RTH button but I wonder if he held it down long enough.

    Critical Issue Discovered

Flying yesterday with Litchi I lost signal because of trees. Indeed RTH initiated as expected and my P3A flew back into range, no problems. The Autopilot app mentioned when any third party app is "connected via the SDK". My guess is these third party Apps don't utilize (or need to utilize) the...

    Testing software and upgrades

Sorry, just saw this thread. Indeed I tested this and confirmed the somewhat drastic reductions in performance. Not sure why more don't test because its pretty simple to do. I'd have to go back to my notes but starting with 1.6 my vertical ascent speeds are as before at 10-12 MPH but only in...

    I'm I the last one flying P3P firmware 1.1.9

I liked 1.4. Then I had too much to drink and read that if I like my firmware I can keep my firmware, so I upgraded to 1.6, and now I regret it. Significant performance hobbling with 1.6.

Prodigal son (p2) returns after 20 months.

How did the person who found it know it was yours?

    Water nerves.

It must have had a performance impact but it was imperceptible. The weight of the keychain floats was almost nothing -- I imagine they undoubtedly increased drag but not by any significant degree because it seemed to have no problems getting up to full speed in short order. Yes indeed that...

    Water nerves.

This is what I've done. Keychain floats from West Marine zip-tied to legs. Then it still fit in my case too... Had no noticeable impact on performance. Luckily during my flights over the Bering Sea I did not get an opportunity to test if these would actually float it, but they are very buoyant...

New pilots, just go for it

Yes, never a single crash for me. I remember the terror of the first flight. Pretty quickly realized, once it was in the air, how rock-solid this thing was and quickly relaxed!

DJI has all the old FW

There are a number of threads about the topic. But 1.6 introduced some fairly significant hits to P3 flight performance, primarily in vertical ascent rate but also horizontal speed, especially on the bottom 2/3 of the battery.

    First flight fly away....P3A crash...

Ugh so sad to hear these stories. Its sort of like when you buy a product, rave about it, highly recommend it, and somebody takes your advice and buys one... only to get a dud and be disappointed, and you feel like the bozo. Very sad. Well I'm sure DJI will make it right and your next one will...

    Litchi or Autopilot

Litchi is wonderful on Android. Sounds like it is still a work in progress for IOS, but will hopefully be catching up to the Android version soon.

    Too much negativity!

Excellent. Indeed these threads favor those who come looking for solutions to problems, so they will always be over-weighted with negative experiences.
