Flight times went from fantastic to terrible

With the gimbal, iOSD min, and datalink you do need a can-bus.

    FPV Ground Station

It is very wet and windy here in the UK, so I thought I'd stay in and build a new FPV Ground Station. Keeps me out of the way of the wife! :D

New Renault with built in drone!

Nice. The Renault will need to be a 4x4. High-tech hunting. Just imagine those Renaults driving over the countryside in pursuit of their flyaway quads. Tally Ho!

    Painting your Phantom

I just removed the top shell of the Phantom and taped over the ventilation holes from the inside before spraying the whole of the outside. I wasn't brave enough to attempt the bottom half of the shell, which would have involved a lot of fiddly taping and/or removing the motors and wiring, etc...

Want a Phantom, but now gunshy

Yes. The default Home Point in the GS software is this: <InitLatitude>22</InitLatitude> <InitLongitude>113</InitLongitude> Type 22,113 into Google Maps=China! On the basis that the firmware must have a memory address to store the 'correct' Home Point, I suspect these coordinates are the...

Want a Phantom, but now gunshy

When I installed the iPad Ground Station kit (and the PC software that comes with it) I discovered that the PC software has a configuration file where the default 'Home Point' is indeed in China - it contains the long/lat coordinates. So when using the PC to control your Phantom if the Home...

How to install DJI IOSD + 2.4 G Bluetooth Ipad Groundstation

Re: How to install DJI IOSD + 2.4 G Bluetooth Ipad Groundsta You need a spare CANBUS port, so if you have a Phantom you will need to install the PMU v2. Then plug connect the iOSD into the CANBUS port on the PMU and plug the air-side receiver of the ground station into the iOSD. Or the other...

The Phantom that was used in war

Mmm. It doesn't have a compass. And it couldn't fly like that because the 2 rotors on the right side are on the wrong way round.

UK based? Where do you fly?

I was just wondering..... Here in the UK we don't have a great deal of wilderness in which to fly, and we are not supposed to fly over built up areas or roads etc for obvious reasons. So I was just wondering where you all go with you Phantoms and quads? RC flying clubs? The beach? Local...

    GoPro Wifi Connection

Wifi should be turned off on the GoPro when flying to avoid interference. Press Record on the GoPro before flying and view the footage later, or fit a video transmitter and view live feed on a monitor or through video glasses. In any case wifi on the GoPro has 4 second delay.

iPad Ground Station nose direction - camera direction

Using the iPad app you can fly manually using the screen control sticks, or by plotting single waypoints. However if you plot a series of waypoints these are uploaded to the quad and when you press Go the quad just flies on auto. Yes, you need comms from the iPad through the base transmitter...
