How I done it was, remove all the screws from the motors, esc's and main central board, you can then move everything together just enough to gain access to the screws on the power plug without unsoldering anything, splice into wire as mentioned and then screw the new plug in place, then position...

Nearly the same, i have a phantom 2 vision with extras added, current weight is 1460g, yes its a little sluggish and not as nimble when it was stock however I can still chuck it about if I want and get 15 min flight times so does fine for me, hope this helps.

I'm no expert so please someone with more lens knowledge chime in, am I right in saying a camera picture that is blurry on one side is not down to the lens, I thought adjusting the lens would make the whole picture either blurry or sharp and being blurry on one side would be down to a faulty...

Yes mine is the same, I would guess its the silver can to the left that's added to make it either 2.4 or 5.8 ;)
