Orange Beach, AL "no drone" ordinance

Also, bear in mind that I did receive a response from the Orange Beach police dept stating that flying was not allowed due to the ordinance. While the ordinance may not be in place yet, I wouldn't expect a warm and fuzzy encounter with the OBPD if they see you or receive any complaints.

Orange Beach, AL "no drone" ordinance

Hi all, just thought I'd give a heads up to anyone planning to visit Orange Beach, Alabama, in the near future. Things have gotten crazy enough that I usually check with the locals before I fly in any town I'm unfamiliar with. I contacted the City of Orange Beach Code Enforcement Officer to...

P3P used to search body of water for victim

AUTHORITIES SEARCH FOR PATRICK Law enforcement has been draining the pond for several days now, and the heli has been flying for two days so far, documenting the water level and trying to identify anything of interest. Due to the wind, the water surface has been too choppy to get much...

    A positive airport story

Thought I'd post a little update to this story. Last night and today I noticed several smaller single engine planes and two helicopters pass overhead flying very low. If assumed that they were landing. They certainly looked close to 200' or lower. Needless to say I didn't fly anymore. I did...

    A positive airport story

He actually said that if I stayed below 200' I didn't even have to deal with them at all, but again, never hurts to call. He didn't really ask many questions. I just hold him I'd fly some over the next few days. Thanks for the technical description, I like to know that info as well.

    A positive airport story

Just wanted to post about my good experience with Texarkana Regional Airport this morning. I'll by flying my P3P at Four States Fair Ground over the next few days, which is less than a mile from the airport as the crow flies. I spoke to one of the guys in the tower and he took my number and...

Let's say you crashes and your camera fell off...

+1 for buying a new P3. Keep the old one as a trainer. I have an old P2V+ with a bent/inoperative gimbal that I occasionally let someone else fly. Maybe a good friend, or to make a kids day (having my hands on the controls as well, sometimes tethered).

Will a P2+ car charger, charge P3 batteries? Thanks

To echo msinger, the batteries are different voltages so no go. I've used two Tripp lite inverters for a while with great results. They're a big name in battery backups, power stabilization, and other network related gear...

Car charging.. Safe or not? P3

/\ Same here. Check the link below for a good, reliable brand inverter. I've had two of these for a while. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0000AI0OF/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1436275305&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SY200_QL40&keywords=tripp+lite+inverter&dpPl=1&dpID=51vqBRujvAL&ref=plSrch

    P3P skimming a lake surface

I'm usually very cautious around trees, and always keep a visual on my bird in addition to watching the fpv, but several things came together to cause that accident. The P3P is a remarkable feat of engineering, but as sophisticated as it is, it just can't make up for the occasional bouts of...

    P3P skimming a lake surface

I took my P3P to a lake a few days ago to try my hand at video. I was able to skim the surface of the lake at an altitude of about 5 feet for probably a half mile with no adjustments. The end of the video has a bonus clip of my P3P backing in to a pine tree. :) Also, ignore the music. It's...

    Ideal display for P3

Another vote for the iPad Air 2. The screen is gorgeous, and with a decent tablet shade it works even better. I'd suggest a newer model tablet (such as the iPad air 2) due to the heavy processor load associated with running the pilot app and streaming live video. Before I found a tablet...

    New guy here (Pics!)

Hey guys, long time stalker, I mean lurker here. This site has been my go to place ever since I got my hands on a P2 about a year ago. It didn't take long for me to make the jump to a P2V+, and now a P3P. It's been like moving from a VW to a Bugatti. I've been extremely impressed with the...
