I never used beginner's mode either, but kept my first several flights below 150'. Most important thing to remember is to keep above all potential obstacles until you're more comfortable with the controls. It takes time to get coordinated with the controls. Be patient... and enjoy!

Understand that GPS accuracy plays a big part in this. The RTH is usually only accurate to a 8-10 ft radius... so there will be variations in the flight path. For way point flying I use the Litchi App, and tweak the way points and altitudes, it's easier to edit flights with Litchi. You still...
