I'm sure you see quite a few videos that were collected using Autopilot. The reason you don't see as many reviews or how to videos is because autoflight logic does all of that. Their flight school documentation is amazing and their walk through videos are great too. There's not much else for...
Maybe I've missed this but is there a way to just simulate the flight? I see the path inspector but it would be great to be able to simulate the flight to get a better feeling for the rate at which routes will be flown and rotations at trigger points will occur. Great Job and Great app though!
Just to play devils advocate for a second, why are you singling out commercial operators if your true concern is about NAS safety? Seems like hobbyist pilots and commercial pilots would pose the same level of risk. Would you agree with a mandatory drone pilot license to operate for hobby or...
The best way to tell is just to get on rules.gov and sort the approved exemption by date. Look at a few to see the submission date. I'm seeing 4-5 months for new 333 and 2-3 months for amending.
This is exactly how I did it too. No need to pay for a lawyer or service if you're following an already approved petition. Now if only the FAA would allow for an online application that didn't need to be independently verified. Make the whole process electronic for a small fee. The lead time on...
Personally I'm ok with registering the aircraft and abiding by the no fly zones. I just think there should be acceptable flight parameters that don't require a flight plan I.e. Below 400' and below a specified weight and speed. There are going to be millions of drones many of them without near...
This seems like a horrible plan for the average hobby pilot. I go drive around the mountains camping and fishing but I also take my p3p with me. I would have to register an entire mountain range which isn't feasible. Something will be done but this seems overboard considering the risk.
I don't doubt that they have jurisdiction over the airspace but I do think that enforcement is nearly impossible for them as they must rely on local police forces to take any action. The police generally aren't used to enforcing aviation policy and have stated that it's a burden they aren't...
I'm hoping they don't make it a separate requirement as well. I wish they would clarify though so I'd know if getting my pilots license would carry me into the new regulations. What was the turnaround time on your 333? I'm seeing up to 5 months based on the recently released 333's on the FAA...
I had a bunch of files get corrupted by using a digipower card reader. Read some reviews and found out it was a common problem with the reader I got. Not sure how you're transferring though so may not be applicable.
I think requiring a ground test covering all the aspects of safe flight below the required 400' limit makes sense. Requiring me to endanger myself and others by flying an actual aircraft to qualify for operating a drone is ridiculous. Also the fact that as long as I'm not accepting compensation...
I just got done testing pix4d and am very impressed. I had to manually fly a grid since I'm on iOS but the results were amazing. Keep updating us on your experiences.
Interestingly enough I have read a few exemption requests that are requesting relief from the pilots license. See snc-lavalin request. It will be interesting to see the FAA response. I've applied for the 333 but I'm hesitant to get a pilots license when I'm unsure if it will be grandfathered in...
