Didn't hear back from anybody so I went ahead and updated everything. So far, all is well... A word to DJI, You know, The scariest thing most of us customers see on are controller screen is "UPDATE FIRMWARE" .

This is how the new one came out of the box, haven't even tried my old batteries in the new bird yet. And the old batteries are up to date.

With stock equipment on a P3P you should be able to fly 2000 meters, With my windsurfer I have gone out over 5000 meters.

Take your drone up to 95 meters then fly out. Make sure nothing is obstructing (buildings, trees, etc.) your view (line of sight) of the drone.

I have a P3P, After I added windsurfer I can go as far out as my battery will allow. Which is about 4 miles out. :)

You said you tried to take off from a parking lot. If it is cement it would have Rebar in it and that would cause a magnetic field that would flip the bird over. I know from experience. Also make sure after you calibrate it that the green lights are flashing before you fly.
