I also used the PolarPro Filters, but recently switched these which are smaller and lighter so they work better with the gimbal and Hero 4.

After a bit of trial and error, I used two pennies to balance mine out and it now works flawlessly. I put one on the side servo as seen in other pictures, and one top center on the back of the camera (back of the cradle). I'm even able to use a light ND filter now. I'm sure the forthcoming...
Agree. I had an offline discussion going on with Rich from Apollo Airobotic, and he hit it spot on "Here's the thing about these gimbals--- it's about more than balance. It's about the PID control loop gains. Balancing the gimbal (like with a penny) makes it easier, but it also changes the...
Well I guess its good to know its not just my gimbal. Misery loves company... For now I'm just going without the lens hood and will try a few other more aerodynamic designs to see if that helps. Might also try adding weight to the back to see if that helps, although I'm perfectly balanced...
Because the Hero 4 is just a bit heavier than the Hero 3, I found that it to be a bit more finicky with being off balance. For example I was not able to use my normal lens hood with it because the prop wash was sending the gimbel into fault mode (jerking quickly down and back up again). Did...
I don't have the V1 gimbal, however I wonder if you could simply convert it to USB using the following:

That was me. Got the Hero 4 today and had no luck getting it to work with the mod. Interestingly, I was not able to even power up the Hero after the Phantom power was on. This makes me wonder if I would have any luck if I isolate the power leads on the cable (using the tape method), and only...
Picked up the Hero 4 Black today and was NOT able to get it to work with Version 2 H3-3D with mod. So guess I'm going back to ribbon cable.
I have a feeling however, that the issue is in the power coming through the back connector. So I might try the tape method of blocking power leads...
This looks like a cool possibility. Carl Zeiss just announced VR One, a virtual reality headset for use with a smartphone. It's similar to the Gear VR by Samsung and Oculus, except at $100, it's cheaper.

I have done the mod to the V2 (it's easy to do and undo) and hope to pick up the new GoPro this weekend. If I have luck finding one, I will reply back to this thread on how it works with the mod.
Hero 4 being installed on H3-3D using backplate connector. Both the Black and Silver fit perfect with no modifications required. I supposed you can you pennies or what not to balance things out better if necessary, but all around great news.

Hey Guys!
I received my order from Goodluckbuy today and came straight in and did the install. Very successful, no Dremel or modification required to the part. I also managed to hide the cable and cover the back. It took a bit of fiddling, and I did loosen the 4 screws on the backplate to...
