Definitely keep your bird in line of sight. You don't want to be flying by the tablet in case it drops out again. This is a documented issue with Android devices but I sure hope you have it solved for your case. Good luck.
I got this message yesterday. It happened on my first flight but not on my others. I just ignored it and everything else was fine. I'm on the latest firmware.
With the AE lock yes it is leaving the exposure up to the camera. I use this sometimes when I like the cameras auto exposure and I don't plan on doing a lot of editing in post. When using the manual settings, you won't need to use AE lock since you are overriding the camera.
You need to get used to using AE lock or manual settings. Lots of info on YouTube for camera settings. I typically just hover to a point that the exposure is where I like it and the press the AE lock icon.
The P3 wins for me. I would love to get rid of my GoPro Hero 4 Black if they would offer the P3 camera as a handheld version with waterproof housing. They are both great cameras though and have different applications.
I agree with RoyVa. The colors are a bit too saturated. My test is to set the saturation where I like it and then back it off a couple points. I tend to over saturate some videos so that the colors match my memory of the time I was there filming. Most of the time it is too much for viewers...
