I have sorted out the problem. For some reason the rc doesn't like the SD card reader?? I downloaded the firmaware onto a USB stick, inserted in the rc and hey presto!! Thought it maybe useful if anyone else has rc firmware update issues. happy flying!!

No because the App tells me " the rc doesn't support upgrading firmware through the App please upgrade the firmware with the USB disk" I have tried this but nothing happens i.e. it doesn't go into updating mode with the blue led.
