Only on an iOS device though. Android users are screwed once again.
I received a used Phantom from DJI support when I sent in my P3S for repair (cracked housing). That Phantom was already registered and i can´t change the name in the DJI GO app on my Android device, the option just isn´t there.
I had the exact same problem.
Was updating the drone from 1.3.5 to 1.5.7 via sd-card method. The remote was not affected by this update.
I had no link in the DJI GO app (signal lost) even though I could see the camera image. I was unable to move the gimbal.
Then I started the update procedure in...
Did you activate the drone? You need to kind of "register" your drone through the DJI GO app in order to be able to start it.
After you activated the drone you can start the motors by pulling both sticks down and to the center.
You can stop the the same way.
As the PopUp says, this 400ft limit is a FCC rule and only applies to the US. In Europe (at least in germany) there is a 2500ft (762m) limit in height. That Airspace is called "class g" and is uncontrolled. Theoretically you could get your Phantom up to 762m in germany.
Did I brick my P3S?
Instead of updating my P3S from 1.3.5 to 1.6.8 first, I went straight to a forced update to 1.5.7 via the sd-card method.
The update seemed to work.
