Yes it does a difference. I live un France so i'm in CE area and have a really bad range on 5.8ghz
A simple test i did :
Icarus software boost 2.4ghz but doesn't change CE to FCC... i had a strong video signal (2.4ghz) but always poor range on rc 5.8ghz...
With Power magic i have the same...
Power Magic change area too...
If you are in CE area you can setup FCC area. So it changes 5.8ghz tooo to FCC.
It does a difference , i live in france and notice better results on 5.8ghz after applying power magic.
You ll have no change on 5.8ghz only if you live in USA...
Your controller 5.8ghz is now the limit and you want add a 2.4ghz amp ( 2.4ghz is WiFi for p3s/p3 4k) ???
You need a 5.8ghz amp to boost the rc 5.8ghz range...
FCC 5.8 is the best configuration but wifi Channel 13 is not allowed contrary to BO... So papatita add the choice in Magic Power 5.3 to set 5.8ghz settings to FCC...
So you have exactly FCC mod (choose US area)+ 2.4ghz Link boost...
It's simple :
It boosts 2.4 so it increases 2.4
It sets region to JAP so if you are in CE area (so have poor CE 5.8ghz limitations) you 'll have an amelioration probably close to FCC 5,8 . But it doesn't increase 5.8 if you are ever in FCC area...
Not difficult to understand : )
Thank you for the infos. It's exactly what i was looking for ( force FCC settings on 5.8ghz )
I'll do a test outdoor in open area this week end.
Thanks to Papatita for this mod
I leave in France so i had default CE configuration too. With papatita mod i noticed an improvement on 5.8ghz (because it apply BO: DFS-JP settings and no more CE area).
I don't use and no need to use channel 13. What files i have to modify with papatita mod (watchlog.sh and watchlog2.sh ?) to...
He talks about 5.8ghz configuration depending of the area configuration.
Many people don't understand that Papatita mod change 5.8ghz configuration too ... to -> BO: DFS-JP , the result "seems" not as good as US: DFS-FCC (but better than "CE" 5.8ghz configuration ^^)
Why do you talk about wifi...
Remember i told you exactly the same a few post ago...
This mod changes the region so it changes 5.8ghz power configuration too ! (it's interesting only for CE area's people...CE area is ultra restrictive on 5.8ghz tx power so we have a very bad range )
I'm in CE area and i told many times i see...
If you are in CE area you can note a big difference with 5.8ghz signal too. I told that and i had the confirmation when i did the command "iw reg get" it's not CE area with papatita mod... the result is JP area (same 5.8ghz power as FCC... that's why after this mod you have exactly all same...
After this mod, 5.8ghz allow to go over 1km... if you do a telnet it confirms configuration is no more CE... its same result as FCC. I told many time in this topic that 5.8ghz is no more CE.... please read and look my results and new 5.8ghz range after the mod...
It doesn't change that only...
So why papatita wifi mod @27dbm makes a big difference for people flying in USA too ? ... if people flying in USA have wifi FCC@27dbm by default like you suppose, papatita mod should have strictly no difference... it's not the case so i don't think "wifi FCC" is 27dbm by default.
It's not so simple...
For exemple i'm French, i live in France: when my P3S is indoor (no gps connection) my P3S is always on FCC default settings... FCC settings switch to CE settings when GPS is ready. So for me it's GPS lock which set parameters FCC/CE not the language and the region of the...
