Can you charge the Phantom batteries using a solar panel?

Re: Can you charge the Phantom batteries using a solar panel Best way is to use a 12V car battery or deep cycle marine battery to run your lipo charger. The solar array maintains the battery.

Petition to get rid of "Justsomeguy"

He's been on my ignore list for months. :D Life's way too short to give people like this any time or attention.

    Futaba T8J which type? Heli?

They are practically the same, with minor differences... I bought the airplane version, because I like the ratcheted throttle and the switch configuration. I use it for airplanes, too. :D http://phantompilots.com/viewtopic.php? ... 3090#p7259

    Futaba 8JA or 8FGS ?

The 8J can be had on eBay for $249 from time to time. They are easily found for $279 with free shipping... Comes with a receiver.

Flying in winter below 0 celsius

If you can keep your Phantom, TX, and batteries in a warm vehicle or building until the very moment you walk out to connect the battery and fly, I think you would be OK. Once you get your home position set and green flashes, the operation of the ESCs and battery would keep the inside warm...

Moving from self centrering throttle to stady one

My throttle is not and never has been self centering. Above 50% it climbs, below 50% it descends. The more you push it either way, the faster it climbs or descends. I like it this way. There's no inherent voodoo or gotchas in this, unless you bring your throttle to zero for a few seconds.

    LiPo Batteries

You don't have to be suicidal, just a strong desire to be permanently and hideously disfigured! :D Or, you could build an 11.1v regulator with a slight chance of burning yourself with a soldering iron.

    Lipo fires

I charge and store my batteries in an ammo can. I made a hole on the side for the battery connector to fit through and for ventilation purposes should a battery flame up.

    And so it begins...

    Oh geez. Really?
